Week 2 news.

15 Oct by Jonathan Saw

I hope everyone had a great game last week. Overall it was a very successful start to our season.

All Girls Carnival: 17th Nov
If there are any girls wanting to play in the Huntingdale All Girls Carnival, please get in  touch with me this week. Nominations close this weekend. Girls can nominate as individuals, groups of friends or whole teams. The idea of this competition is all about encouraging girls to participate in sport. There will be U13, U11 and U9 competition. I’ll submit the registrations this Saturday. If any of our female coaches are able to help out, please let me know too.

Rules and Coaching:
As we have a lot of new coaches and managers it is timely to remind you all about TBAWA, who administer our sport. They have several resources online that can be extremely helpful.

This link will take you to a page that contains the Official Rules and and Annotated Rule book. This is particularly useful as it explains the rules in more detail and how to interpret them. It also gives common examples of game situations. Please remember that our lower level players do play to modified rules and coaches are able to discuss playing to any modifications with the umpire before a game. We aim to promote participation at Canning Cougars.

This link takes you to the ‘A’ Level coaching clinic. Lower down the page is a link to a PowerPoint presentation that is the beginning of the TBAWA coaching accreditation. ANYONE can read this and it is short and basic and a great start to anyone new to t-ball. Should any coaches wish to continue to the full accreditation, they will be fully supported by the club.

Equipment:
The club has plenty of equipment. The initial team bags only have a selection of helmets and bats and other equipment. If you need different sizes or more, please come to the clubhouse before the games. If anything breaks, please swap it out. We want the kids to use good equipment and be safe.

Fees:
Now that the season has started, it is important for the player fees to be paid. This is the income the club uses to provide everything for the kids to play.
