Canning Cougars News – Week 4

3 Nov by Jonathan Saw

It’s Week 4, Cougars — and that means full rules are now in play! From this week onward, it’s three strikes and you’re out, and three outs and side away. For our Level 1 teams, unlimited strikes are still an option, as long as both coaches and umpires agree before the game begins.

A quick reminder on bat safety — if a player throws the bat (as deemed by the umpire), it’s an immediate out, and they’ll need to return to the bench. If you have younger players who are still learning, there are hula hoops available in the storeroom that can be placed along the first base line. This gives players a clear spot to drop their bats as they run to First base, helping keep everyone safe and the game flowing smoothly.

Team photos are also happening this week! All players, coaches, and managers should arrive in their freshest uniforms, complete with hats and gloves — and don’t forget those bright Cougars smiles. There may be a little disruption to games, but we’ll do our best to keep everything running on schedule.

We’re also excited to announce that the club will be hosting a Level 1 Umpire Clinic on Sunday, November 30th. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the game and gain official accreditation — all right here at our own club!
You can register via the TBAWA website: tbawa.com.au/upcoming-umpire-clinics.

This Saturday will be the final performance training session, held straight after the games. A huge thank you to everyone who’s taken part over the past few weeks — it’s been great to see so many players putting in the extra effort.
State Tryouts will begin the following week, on Saturday, November 15th, with more details to come soon.

And finally, don’t forget our much-loved Twilight Match on Wednesday, November 12th. It’s always a great evening of t-ball, laughs, and community spirit — all while trying not to be distracted by a glorious Canning sunset
